General

Customise the LV colour scheme

Note: This is a user-specific setting.

  • On the Settings menu, select Screen Display.
  • Edit the display settings as required.
  • Click Save.

Print a screenshot for reference

If you need to capture the screen for later reference, follow these steps:

  • On the File menu, select Print Screen.
  • Type a description for the screenshot and click OK.
  • Select the required printer and click Print.

Use Help to find a list of function keys and their actions

Click the yellow question mark to access the system help. From the contents tab, select LV User Guide and then Function Keys. To print the list, right-click the page and select Print.

Lock your LV session if you leave your computer

To secure your computer when you leave it unattended, click the padlock icon on the toolbar.

Clipboard

This can be used to copy any data in the clinical system to an open consultation, patient note or a Word document.
Using your mouse, highlight the area you wish to copy and right click.
The system will ask if you wish to paste this to the clipboard, answer yes.
Then open (for example) the patient note and click the paste icon.

Keyboard Shortcut to view Patient Précis

Whilst holding down both the Ctrl and the Alt keys, press D.
Press Enter to remove the précis.

EMIS Common Room

Automatically log on to the emis-online common room to save having to enter your login and password manually. Get your username and password from EU - EO. Go to Settings, Advanced, setting user name and password for emis-online, close.

In the common room, you can access the Knowledge Base to download user guides and training handouts.

Administration

Complete a patient's address details using their postcode

From a new registration, type the patient's postcode in the Hous Name/Flat field and then the address is automatically selected.

Search for duplicate patients

In GP LInks, select F - Printouts Certificates and Archiving, then select I - Invalid NHS numbers. Results displayed show patients who do not have a valid NHS number, which can indicate that they are a duplicate patient.

Archive duplicate patients

From the main menu, select C - Changes to the System and then DB - Database Management. Now select A - Archive Old Records. Tip: You can also reactivate archived records from this screen.

Manage duplicate addresses

From the main menu, select DT - Dictionaries and Templates then G - Amend Household Addresses.

Appointments

Order of Session Holders (terminal specific)

You can change the order of your session holders in the appointment book. this could be to ensure that your doctors are listed first. Choose AM - L - O. Use U to move someone up and D to move them down.

Consultations

Search for a specific problem

From a consultation, press I and then select the required problem from the list.

Open Web Mentor from a consultation

From a consultation, press SHIFT + F2.

Edit date-doctor-place during a consultation

Press D and then edit the options.

Medication

Preferential display

The preferential display appears above the dotted line at the top of medication search results. Use option J in DT to set up and manage your practice prescribing formularies and preferential display. See the training handout TH296 for further information.

Group or unify problems

From the Problem screen in Medical Record, select one of the following:

  • Group: for problems that are linked to one another.
  • Unify: for duplicate problems that all need to be under a single heading.
